| These are the steps to get a dreamweaver site set up. If you use dreamweaver to edit your pages, you have to setup a site. You only have to do this part once. Then you will use dreamweaver to connect to the web server and upload your files. You may have a different version of Dreamweaver, so the screens may look a litte different. |
1. Open Dreamweaver and select "Manage Sites" form the dropdown list. |
2. Select the"new" button. Then select "site". |
3. Name the site. This is what will show up on the droplist when you open dreamweaver. |
4. Select No and continue. |
5. This is where you tell Dreamweaver where on your hard drive you are going to store you web site. |
6. This is where you tell Dreamweaver how to connect to the server so you can upload your files. |
7. Your version may or may not have this screen. |
8. Just verify your info and continue. |
9. Now you need to get the files off the server. I set up a samplesite for you to get started. There are two options: Remote View and Local View. Remote view is the folder on the server. Local View is your hard drive folder. Initially you need to get your files off the server so you want to be on Remote view and then click the download button. From this point on you will only need to be on Remote view if you want to delete something. You will use Local View to edit pages, create new pages, and load those pages to the server. See the next tutorial to see how to do this. |
