2) Winamp is a a freestanding player that will feel as familiar as a component in a home entertainment system. It does not need an internet uplink and does not "want" to check in with the mothership connection on a regular basis. You can use it like a CD disc changer and it will play music continuously.

3) Winamp has some cool Internet features. It recognizes mp3 tags that musicians can use to link songs to web pages. If you are listening while surfing the artists can have a webpage appear in the winamp browser. Its a FANTASTIC way for artists to communicate with fans.

4) Create and listen to collections or playlists with easy to use controls built into the player. You do not need a seperate "Jukebox" program.

5) Steady but stable upgrades. Winamp is constantly improved but it is not neccessary to regularly update the player just to use it. Some players stop working when a scheduled update is suggested. I wonder why some software developers seem desperate to have you return to their sites repeatedly?

6) Winamp is easy to download, its a very small file and it installs quickly. Winamp may be freely redistributed, thats cool.

7) No strings attached. Nullsoft, the creator of Winamp, is not focused on gathering infomation about you and your listening habits. They give the player away freely and you use it as you wish.
