Karnival Twist is the kick off event for The Quick60 Race Series. This short lap tournament emphasizes fun by offering a chance at a fastest lap every minute (or so). Discover the best lines, put together a perfect lap, the times will be close and you have to ride perfectly to stay in the competition. If you blow it you get another chance quickly

This race starts with a seed or warm up lap on some old work roads, the warm up gives sharp riders a chance to get out front for the big entrance to the main race track. Learn how to go fast here and you will have an easier time keeping postion in the first few laps on the course.

I have included the warm up lap to highlight my fascination with Motocross Madness 2 and its ability to portray large enviroments, You may notice the displacement maps have been tiled to provide a seamless transition.

The quick lap layout is a departure from my previous designs in which I had explored the potential for huge enviorments in MotoCross Madness 2. The short laps seem like a lot of fun because you can search out a perfect line while cranking out 10 or 20 laps, If you mess up or discover a new line you get another chance very soon. Its a blast, but this course is not just about WFO speed, There are lots of rhythm sections, the coolest air may not be the fastest....its cool, The biggest air may not be the best... Learn when to go and when to hold back and you may be able to get down to the one minute mark.

The layout is a grooving rhythm roller carved into the hillside remains of an abandoned quarry. Its a simple loop with beautiful rhythm sections that can be ridden many ways. The line seems obvious but the packs, pits, and jumps offer some cool surprises.

The perimeter texture and displacement maps are tiled seamlessly giving the effect of a huge enviroment. The paved road is not used in the race but it invites exploration by curious riders.

Game Performance tips:
The detailed terrain, dense vegatation, and high model count may impact the games frame rate performance. Try some of the settings shown below if you need to smooth out playback on your system.

The shadows and particles seem to take up a lot of CPU power. Switch them off if the game seems to stutter.

The AI riders have a big impact on frame rate, especially when they crash. The game runs noticably smoother if you race against 4 to 6 riders rather than 10.

my beta test system:
CPU: Celeron 500
Memory: 128 Mb SDRAM
Graphics: ATI Xpert 128 16Mb PCI
Monitor: 17" Sony 200GS
Input: Saitek Cyborg Joystick 3D Gold USB

I would love to hear how the race runs on your system. Please includes details about your hardware and settings along with the fps readings. I am especially curious about performance on some of todays really hot systems, Anyone out there running a Geforce3 in Win2000 with a 1.7 and a gig of RAM?
