Karnival Twist is the kick off event for The Quick60 Race
Series. This short lap tournament emphasizes fun by offering a chance at a
fastest lap every minute (or so). Discover the best lines, put together a
perfect lap, the times will be close and you have to ride perfectly to
stay in the competition. If you blow it you get another chance quickly.
The 12 year old son of the first cousin of the daughter of the
sister of the wife of the vice president of terrestial commodities of
Karnival is in all actuallity a pretty good motoXr but, You probably don't
know his name. Anyway, he said we could use the course anytime.
The
layout is a grooving rhythm roller carved into the hillside remains of an
abandoned Deodorant quarry located in the Desert Fauve. Its a simple loop
with beautiful rhythm sections that can be ridden many ways. The line
seems obvious but the packs, pits, and jumps offer some cool
surprises.
Cool Custom
Objects
You will see tons of Custom Made prop objects in this race. I hope
you enjoy them.
The Birds
Mother always warned me that smiling while riding was sure fire
way to eat a bug. Well I never thought about smacking a condor. Have
you?
Watch out.
fraser's birds have escaped and they discovered an updraft by the
ridge where they will hover for hours, barely moving at all :-).
Look
for them as you approach the silly jump. You may not see them
at first but if you smack one you are gonna eat it.
A special thanks to fraser for the birds.
More Custom Objects
Pennants: The custom made
pennants add a playful splash of color and create a unique effect as you
race beneath them. Experienece the flash as you speed by, it will remind
you of the worlds liveliest street festivals. Viva Karnival.
A Kings Castle: A brand new tent
sporting a Twisted Dirt tag and Justin's TD Rider Logo. Think of it as a
home away from home. These tents use more Aluminum than most but have area
low poly count.
Twisted Dirt arch: Its big, bulky, stout even, and uses Aluminum
tubing like its going out of style.
VW
Bus: A dependable support vehicle, they can handle wild back country
trails and the funkiest fuel.
Please Note: Many of the Custom Models shown in the pics
will be available for download at the twisteddirt objects area.
The
models take a lot of time to make and even longer to package for
distribution. I apologize for delays in getting the models out for other
track designers to use. I continue to prepare them for download and they
will be presented as time allows.
A Twisted Dirt exclusive:
Somebody or something has been peeking...this image appears to
depict the Karnival Twist layout.
It makes me
wonder.....
Game
Performance tips: The detailed terrain,
dense vegatation, and high model count may impact the games frame rate
performance. Try some of the settings shown below if you need to smooth
out playback on your system.
The shadows
and particles seem to take up a lot of CPU power. Switch them off if the
game seems to stutter.
The AI riders have a big impact on frame
rate, especially when they crash. The game runs noticably smoother if you
race against 4 to 6 riders rather than 10.

I would love
to hear how the race runs on your system. Please includes details about
your hardware and settings along with the fps readings. I am especially
curious about performance on some of todays really hot systems, Anyone out
there running a Geforce3 in Win2000 with a 1.7 and a gig of RAM?
Thanks to all the Twisted Dirt crew for supporting my track design
work.
